My Story

Looking back, Birch Builds feels less like a career change and more like a return to my roots.

I come from generations of cattle farmers, engineers, architects, master carpenters, electricians, and nurses—people who worked with their hands, solved problems, built things that lasted, and took pride in doing the job right. For decades, I've been building, fixing, designing, and figuring out how things work. It's simply how I'm wired.

Like many people in my generation, though, I was encouraged to take a different path. Success meant earning a college degree, finding a corporate job, and climbing the career ladder. So that's exactly what I did. I earned a degree in Marketing & Finance and spent the next 20 years building a career with companies like adidas, Reebok, Hasbro, and New Balance.

I learned a tremendous amount during those years—how to manage projects, communicate with people, solve complex problems, and sweat the details. But over time, the excitement of the corporate world & working in sports faded, while something else kept pulling at me.

Whenever friends or family needed help with a renovation, a repair, or a custom project, I was the first person they called. I loved the challenge of taking an idea and bringing it to life. Whether I was remodeling a room, building custom pieces, solving a tricky home problem, or simply helping someone create a space they loved, those projects brought me more satisfaction than anything I had ever done behind a desk.

Eventually, the people around me started asking the same question: "Why aren't you doing this full time?"

They were right.

So I traded my keyboard, mouse, and frequent flyer miles for a tape measure, power tools, and pickup truck—and I haven't looked back.

Birch Builds was born from the belief that every home deserves thoughtful craftsmanship, creative problem solving, and someone who genuinely cares about the finished result. Today, I help homeowners tackle everything from small repairs to full-scale renovations, treating every project as if it were my own home.

Helping people love where they live isn't just my job—it's what I was built to do.
